L’Authentique was founded by French restaurateur Guillaume Desmurs in 2006. Working from family recipes, he introduced a true taste of France to lucky kiwis at markets and boutique outlets.
Head Charcutier Philippe Arregui took over the business in 2010, bringing technical skill and Basque passion to begin our growth as a business.
In 2014, Wade Lewis joined him, and helped to make our popular L’Authentique products available nationwide, also establishing an enduring friendship with My Food Bag.
Under the watchful eye of Philippe, they’ve built a talented team to increase production - without compromising the traditional artisan ways or famous quality.
Their vision for L’Authentique is to produce a local range of the best French charcuterie - a range that is ethically perfect with no compromises, just as our French forefathers would’ve eaten.
Each product is handmade ensuring the highest standards. They are also gluten-free and contain no starch or flour. The sausages are unique and feature a coarse grind, fresh seasoning and an exclusive use of prime cuts of meat.
And even now, most weekends you’ll find Wade or Philippe at a local market or Food Show, introducing people to the food they love, and talking to the people who enjoy it.
