L’Authentique was founded by French restaurateur Guillaume Desmurs in 2006, a pioneer in the artisan food movement here in Aotearoa. Working from family recipes, some with a local twist, he created the refined products that now are beloved by kiwis - many favourites we still sell today.

Head Charcutier Philippe Arregui took over the business in 2010, bringing technical skill and passionate Basque vigour to continue driving the business from its small origins.

In 2014, kiwi Wade Lewis joined with Philippe to grow L’Authentique, distributing nationwide at retail and also in establishing key partnerships such as My Food Bag. Under the watchful eye of Philippe, they’ve established a strong loyal team to increase production of the range - without compromising the traditional artisan ways.

The shared vision for L’Authentique is to produce a local range of the best French charcuterie - a range that is ethically perfect with no concessions, just as our French forefathers would’ve eaten.

Each product is handmade ensuring the highest standards. They are also gluten-free and contain no starch or flour. The sausages are unique and feature a coarse grind, fresh seasoning and an exclusive use of prime cuts of meat.
